17. CHAIRMAN’S REPORT

The Chairman welcomed Cllr Roger Latchford, our newly elected KCC Representative, to the meeting.

Accidents
2 cars had recently been written off by other vehicles speeding through the village, and there have been several damaged wing mirrors.

Road closures
1. Acol had been identified by Kent Highways as a diversion for the Air Show.  I emailed and the Acol diversion was removed.
2. Quex events are avoiding the concerns expressed to them concerning the use of Acol for access to the Sound Island event.  Further attempts at compromise will be made.

Street lights
There is one broken that has recently been inspected.  Another, adjacent to the duck pond, has been cut off and taped off, apparently to be replaced for safety reasons.  It had, however, been observed as apparently working OK.

Road patch ups opposite pub have been completed.

Post box
This had been sealed over the weekend of the Manston Air Day, apparently due to the increased traffic.

Crown and Sceptre
There has been some activity at the pub, but there is no confirmed information.

Joint Transportation Board
No matters raised were of concern to Acol.

Thanet Area Committee
There had been a talk from an officer of the Fire Service, although not particularly helpful.

18. RECREATION GROUND/APEG REPORT

The Chairman of APEG was not in attendance to report.

Cllr Norris asked about the vehicular access to the Recreation Ground and there followed a general discussion.  Tony Burgess was present at the meeting and he agreed to discuss this with Cllr. Dr Mitchell.

20. REPORTS FROM CLLRS LATCHFORD & ROBERTS (TDC)

Cllr. Latchford reported on the KCC election results in May 2013.  He was a member of UKIP and the party had gained 17 seats and was the official opposition party to the conservatives.  Furthermore he had been elected leader of the Group.  Members were advised that he would try to attend as many parish meetings as possible. Finally Members were advised that street lights would be switched off from midnight until 5 am and that County were prioritising the repairs to potholes.

Cllr. Roberts reported that he would work and liaise with Cllr. Latchford.  Members were also advised that he was pursuing the proposals for the works being carried out at 2 Church Cottages and the appalling traffic deadlock that had blighted the open day at Manston.
